SYNOPSIS
For this resigned woman, post-apocalyptic survival has become a routine that can only last until it’s time to open... The last can.
STATEMENT
The Last Can was shot on a single day, using a borrowed SD point-and-shoot digital camera. The project — the second one I shot, albeit the first one I finished editing — sprung out of an academic assignment, but quickly diverted to acquire its own autonomous raison d’être. What has mostly been an opportunity to explore intuitively, in real-time, technical breakdown and the sequential complementarity of shots was also an occasion to sow the seeds of enduring themes. Indeed, here, the protagonist is faced with her imminent demise.
