SYNOPSIS

Geneviève’s life orbits around two poles; it is an accumulation of not-quite-coinciding cyclic trajectories between tumult’s strong gravity field and the airy atmosphere of peacefulness;

a relentless fight to untangle chaos, and create beauty.

STATEMENT

How can the essence of a person be recognized, captured, expressed? The project attempts

to achieve this with audiovisual means, selectively focusing on a limited number of rituals, objects and attitudes, trying to make as porous and immaterial as possible the boundary between the camera lens and the subject, in order to reach and give access to an innermost, unfathomable core.

Untangling Chaos is part of the Female Faces series of video portraits, an anthology of international collaborations between filmmakers and composers, which aims to unveil an introspective view of art’s recognition of the female ethos, struggles and strengths.
